They&#039;re following a laudable UX principle that the user should only have to do a task when it is of utility to him or her. My additions at random:

When I last used picnik, I was able to upload, edit and download all without registration.

Bubbl.us is another no-account service, for brainstorming diagrams

I think posterous takes it to another level. You registered for e-mail;  you don&#039;t have to register for a blog. You have an e-mail editor;  you don&#039;t need a blog editor</description>
